$5 DIY Lace Bunny Ears with Veil – Last Minute Halloween Costume
Halloween is coming up fast and if you are anything like me – you do not have a costume yet. I can never make a decision so I am always scrambling last minute to put one together. I wanted to think of a creative and easy costume that I could make without spending a lot of money. I have a ton of random fabrics and craft supplies so I knew I could make a headband and incorporate pieces from my wardrobe to make the perfect costume! You probably have most of the supplies at home and the rest you can get at Michael’s, making this costume $5! Now you have plenty of money left over to get candy for trick or treaters and wine for yourself!
Supplies: Black Lace Fabric, Black Pipe Cleaners (4), Black Headband, Scissors, Hot Glue Gun, Needle, Black Thread
Step 1: Take 2 pipe cleaners and twist together at one end.
Step 2: Take the other ends of the pipe cleaner and put on either side of the headband. Twist the pipe cleaners on either side of the headband to secure.
Step 3: Untwist the bottom pieces that are attached to remove from the headband. Leave the top portion twisted together.
Step 4: Thread the needle.
Step 5: Cut a piece of the lace fabric a little bit bigger than the shape and lay the first “ear” pipe cleaners on top.
Step 6: Place another piece of fabric on top of the pipe cleaner.
Step 7: Start at the bottom and sew the two pieces of fabric and the pipe cleaner together all the way around. Secure the bottom area then tie off.
Step 8: Cut the excess fabric off around the pipe cleaner leaving a little extra on the ends.
Step 9: Do the same thing over again for the other ear – sew the fabric together…
Step 10: Cut the excess off!
Step 11: Place the ears back on the headband and twist the pipe cleaners underneath to reattach and fold excess around the headband.
Step 12: Spin the ears around the headband once and secure with hot glue.
Step 13: Use the excess fabric to make a mini veil. Lay the fabric across the headband like shown below and cut a piece off that fits around the full perimeter.
Step 14: Place hot glue on the front edge of the headband and push the fabric down around the whole top of the headband. Try on and cut excess fabric until you are happy with the height of the veil!
Add a red lip, statement jewelry and an all-black look from your closet to complete the look!
Love this idea! DIY costumes are always so much cuter than store bought <3
