My Clean Winter Skincare Routine
The winter is harsh on my already very dry skin and I am constantly trying products and figuring out what works best. I need lots of hydration and I also need products that can tone and balance my skin, I have freckles and uneven spots so that can be a big challenge. While I do get zits from time to time during certain times of the month and when I don’t properly take care of my skin, I do not have acne-prone skin. I am very lucky in that aspect because I have never had to deal with the issues that consistent pimples bring to someone’s life. But like I said my biggest issue is having very dry skin so this regimen has been very helpful with hydration. I shared my routine on Instagram stories and added them to my highlights, CLICK HERE to check it out! All of these products have fewer chemicals and toxins and more ingredients derived from plants to match the composition of the skin, giving it what it needs and nothing it doesn’t. If you can’t pronounce the ingredients on your skincare products then chances are they are chemicals that speed up the signs of aging instead of helping the skin get all the necessary things it needs to help reverse it.
Countermatch Regimen
This 4-step skin care regimen is great for hydration as well as age prevention, it is sold together and priced very well! I also add in a few other products that work for my skin and makes it feel so fresh and clean! Each step is listed below, click the photo to get more information on each of the products.
Step 1: Refreshingly Clean Gel Cleanser
I talked about this cleaner last week but I have been using it for a few months now and I love it. It is very light and gets all my makeup off gently and efficiently. It is a huge bottle and you only need a little bit to apply when washing your face so it lasts forever! It is a botanical blend of chamomile, calendula, yucca root extract and Saponaria and made without SLS, SLES, sulfates, parabens, formaldehyde carriers, PEGs, MCI/MI, steareth-n, synthetic fragrances, or dyes. The best part…it is only $18!
Step 2: Intense Moisture Serum
After cleansing, I use the Intense Moisture Serum. This serum “delivers a targeted boost of replenishing hydration” and it is very lightweight. The point of serums is is to penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin. Some of the benefits are firmer skin, smoother texture, smaller pore appearance and increased moisture. I use it twice a day, in the morning and at night, a little goes a long way which I love! Since using this serum in my regime I have seen some of these benefits and it is really motivating to continue to use it to keep seeing results!
Step 3: Eye Rescue Cream
Next up is Eye Rescue Cream, all you need is a little dab and then lightly pat under your eyes and on your eyelids in a circular motion twice a day. The area around the eyes is very fragile and quick to show age as well as tiredness. This cream helps brighten the area and reduce any darkness which I love!
Step 4 (during the day): Adaptive Moisture Lotion
What I love most about this Adaptive Moisture Lotion is the weight of it, It is thick enough to add intense moisture all over the face, neck, and chest but not too thick. I use this only in the morning and I only need a small amount so it really goes the distance. Face moisturizer’s main purpose is to hold water in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin and when you find a good one it changes everything! Especially with makeup application, the dry skin underneath makeup is the worst thing and with this regime, I have not had to deal with that issue.
Step 4 (at night): Recovery Sleep Cream
At night, instead of the Adaptive Moisture Lotion, I use the Recovery Sleeping Cream. It is really important to hydrate your skin before you go to bed, it helps even complexion and boosts collagen. Again, this lotion is a perfect consistency and applies very evenly. It has an advanced blend of hyaluronic acid, plum oil (Prunus Domestica Seed Extract), and tara gum (Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum) that creates a protective layer to shield skin from moisture loss.
Step 5: Balancing Facial Oil
I am obsessed with this Facial Oil it smells so good and locks in everything and holds the moisture day and night. This is hands down the best one I have ever used and there are so many benefits of oils. One of the best ones is wrinkle reduction, as we get older there are fewer oils in our skin so adding it back in is necessary. I also love the Honest Facial Oil. Obviously, it is great to moisturize and protect skin but it is a great makeup primer too which I love! Since it is the last step in my skincare regime I give my skin a few minutes to absorb it all and then apply my Everything Primer then my Tint Skin Foundation and the rest of my makeup!
Step 6: Lip Conditioner Peppermint Balm
A good lip balm is priceless and this one is the best! Did you know that when you put a product on your body it takes 26 seconds to enter your bloodstream? But especially on your lips, you are ingesting it through the mouth and that can happen even faster. It is super important to use balms that are less toxic and have less questionable ingredients on the label. This one is made from hydrating shea nut, derived from shea fruit. I put it on in the morning and at night to keep my lips super hydrated and soft!
Step 7 (optional): Younger + Clearer Spot-On Remedy
This Spot-on Remedy has 2% salicylic acid and I use it when I feel a blemish coming on or when I have a full on blemish that I want gone ASAP. It reduces redness and dries out the zit with rosehip and neem extracts. This stuff has cut the length of my pimples in half and is always in my arsenal when I need it!
Still trying every night: Castor Oil
I am still testing out castor oil, I put it on my eyelashes and eyebrows every night before I go to sleep. The bottle comes with applicators which is so convenient! It has only been 2 weeks so I have not seen too much of a change but I have read it takes a few months to start working! I will keep you updated!
I hope this was helpful and answered all the questions you have about these products! I truly love all of them and they have saved my skin through this harsh winter. If you have any other questions feel free to ask by leaving a comment below! Next up I will be sharing my clean makeup routine! xo
I never mositurize at night! Not because I don’t want to but because I didn’t know how important it was. Will need to start doing so immediately. And I can’t wait to try the lip balm!
