My Experience: Lash Extensions
I had been curious about lash extensions for a while before I got them, then my husband got me a gift certificate to All About Me in Towson for my birthday. He probably was thinking I would get a massage or a facial or both but I decided I would try out lengthen my lashes. I found this spa/salon because my sister gets her eyebrows done there and she raves about her estheticians, Angie, so I started going to her. She is just as amazing as my sister says and after one appointment she changed my eyebrows for the better and I am so excited to continue to work with her. (If you are looking for someone call her!) After that, I was very comfortable going to the eyelash esthetician, Taryn, and she was just as amazing! I loved that she was very thorough and knowledgeable and it was a great experience!

The procedure took about an hour and a half but it could take up to two hours during the first visit. Because she was working on my eyelashes I was laying down and my eyes were closed, she asked that we didn’t talk because it would cause me to move too much and the procedure would take longer than it should. Talking also threw off her concentration which is not ideal in a situation like this! It ended up being the most relaxing experience ever, there was no pressure to keep up a conversation and I was able to zone out and almost meditate. I really appreciated her laying out what she needed to do the best job she could so I knew exactly what to expect. I would recommend bringing headphones and putting on music or an audiobook. I will be doing that next time I go, I just did not have my headphones during my first appointment but it was kind of a blessing because I was so relaxed!
After she was done I was both excited and nervous to see the results and when I did I was so happy! She decided to start lighter and just do a very basic and beautiful addition to my lashes which I appreciated because it was new to me but don’t get me wrong, it was definitely a big improvement. My lashes were longer and thicker than my originals and they really opened up my eyes. It is one of those things that I didn’t realize I need until I got it, after laying there with no makeup on I suddenly looked like I had some on!
In terms of upkeep and care, I was told to in general just be careful and it is okay to get them wet but when hair is wet it is more fragile. Obviously no rubbing of the eyes or sleeping in a way that they are directly on a pillow. I felt comfortable with the information I was given about the aftercare when I left and know I would just figure out what worked best for me. The first thing that I learned was that I had to be super careful when taking liquid eyeliner off my top eyelids, the first time I did so with a wipe as carefully as possible and a few lashes came with it. I found that using a q-tip helped a lot. I also figured out that I have to gently splash water over my eyes and gently rub around them. Same goes for in the shower, I have to be careful about not letting the stream of water hit directly on my eyelashes. Lastly, and the hardest thing for me was being careful about how I slept. I am a stomach and side sleeper which is not ideal. I probably have lost the most lashes from my sleeping positions, haha but I am getting better. If I sleep on my side I made sure the pillow is tucked back so my lashes are not hitting it and I have not slept on my stomach for a while. Over the past few weeks I have been able to adjust to the changes but in general, lashes will fall out over time. I was told that is very normal. I was worried that they would all fall out and my lashes would look like my original ones but that has not been the case at all, the majority have stayed in place and they are still a huge improvement.
There has been a big learning curve so I know the next time I get them filled in they will last much longer. Overall, I am very happy with them and I am excited to go back to get them filled in. I will update this post with how that goes and my thoughts on my second experience. They recommend getting fill-ins 4-6 weeks later so I think I will be going around 5 weeks after my appointment.
Outfit Details
I was on the search for something to wear for St. Patrick’s Day and when I saw this top I knew it was perfect. I love the rainbow stripes, so on trend for this Spring, but I also loved that the green was subtle but still noticeable ( so I would not get pinched). I could also see myself wearing it all summer long with shorts and skirts so it will get a lot of use! The casual feel of it is right up my alley these days. The best part is, it is only $32 but if you use code: SPRINGTOIT it is 40% off making it under $20! It also comes in black and white stripes as well as a bunch of solid colors. I sized up and it fits very comfortably, what I like about these tees is that the sleeves are longer as well as the bodice!
My sunnies are also new and I am obsessed! I was going back and forth about getting the Rayban version because they are more of an investment so I decided to hold off. Then I came across these beauties and they were a fraction of the price and a sale was going on. I decided to go for it and I am so happy I did! They are very well made and look great on, they are right on trend right now, too! I have learned that circular sunglasses of all sizes are best or my face shape so I am excited to be starting a fun collection!
