My husband and I completed our first fixer-upper last year with my family’s construction company F.C. Batton & Son, it is a rancher that we completely transformed. We updated the layout and added on to it to increase the square footage along with a full master suite. It has everything we need and we were able to touch every room so we love it but it is a smaller space! So, when thinking about the litter box situation for our sweet cat Mable we were definitely stumped as to where we were going to put it. I did not want the standard litter box just sitting in a corner and we are hoping to grow our family at some point so the bedrooms are just not an option as they will be used as a guest room and a nursey down the line! I researched a lot and my first thought was to do a built-in or covered litter box that also doubled as a bench or something, nothing really seemed to fit anywhere in our house so again, I was struggling to figure out what to do. I finally came across a faux plant that doubles as a litter box and I ย knew, with a few changes, it would be perfect.ย
What you get:
It comes with a clay-colored pot (I didn’t love the color so I changed that), a flitered vented system for odor control, decorative moss, and a faux plant that looks very real. Assembly is very easy!

How I changed to the color of the clay-colored pot:
I did about three coats of white satin spray paint on the outside. I just laid out a cardboard box and put the pieces on top and evenly sprayed a layer and let dry and continued to do that until fully white!ย

Additional purchases for Inside the “Litter Box”:
Per reviews on this item on Amazon, I purchased this plastic pan and the litter liners to make it easy to keep the inside as clean as possible!ย
Assembly of the “Litter Box”:
Wrap the liner around the plastic pan
Tighten the drawstrings around the bottom just enough so it holds on but loose enough where the rest of the liner can be flattened on the inside of the pan
Place the pan into the pot
Add kitty litter and put the top back on with the faux moss and plant. We use a scooper to clean it daily and then as needed we pull the liner off the plastic pan and throw everything away and start from scratch!
From the front, it looks like any other plant I have in my house and…
The other side is a hidden litter box and no one knows the difference when they are hanging out in our house!ย
It is super easy to keep clean so there are no odors and it fits seamlessly in the decor of our house! We are so happy with how it turned out and we love that we can move it anywhere in the house as needed.

Update: since putting it together I purchased THIS mat to stick behind it so when she walks out of the litter box litter doesn’t get everywhere and it works great! I leave it there for every day but if we are having people over I will remove it just to keep that seamless look!ย
I also found THIS hidden litter box that is already white with different faux leaves, it is $30 more than the one I got and fixed up so its a great option if you want to pay a little more and not have to do anything to it!
xo,
Love this hack!!
